Call to Order: Jeff Gill, president, called the meeting to order at 12:23 p.m.
Meal: Provided by D’Mario’s
Invocation: Merl Kinser
Guests/Introductions: Rhonda Majika, Robin Miller, Cimarron Casino
Announcements: - Kendra Moreland said GPAEDA will hold a meeting at noon on Wednesday, May 9, at the Payne County Bank conference room. Everyone is invited to bring a lunch and attend the meeting.
Minutes: Merl Kinser made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 19 meeting; Rena Hines seconded; motion approved.
Treasurer’s Report: In Treasurer Jalyn Bailey’s absence, Chris Petermann reported a balance of $28,718.56. Kendra Moreland noted she has some invoices from the golf tournament to turn in. Moreland made a motion to accept the report; Rena Hines seconded; motion approved.
Gill asked Petermann to relay a message to Bailey that he’d like to see a rundown of how the finances related to the golf tournament turned out.
Board and Committee Reports: City Wide Garage Sale: Gill said beautiful weather contributed to a large crowd turnout for the annual event. It appeared things went well all over town.
- City Wide Clean-Up Day: Gill said a lot of people turned out to help, and lots of residents took advantage of the large trash bins which were situated at the Senior Citizens Center.
Pete’s Market Days: Gill reminded everyone that Pete’s Market Days is planned for next Saturday, May 12, in downtown Perkins.
- FreeWheel: Travis Majors said the FreeWheel committee will meet next at noon on Tuesday, May 8, at the Stroud National Bank board room. Hello! Catering will provide lunch. Everyone who signed up to help with FreeWheel is encouraged to attend.

New Business: Oklahoma Travel Guides: Gill said chamber has received some Oklahoma Travel Guides. They will be distributed to the three banks in town and the library. If anyone else wants some, please contact him.
Contact info: Members are asked to please provide their email address or phone number to Pat Bickell so she can contact everyone in advance of meetings and events.
Program: Teri Smith, human resources director for Quebecor, and Kris Langston of Westaff, presented a short program about employment opportunities in Stillwater.
Smith gave a quick background on Quebecor, noting that the company recently made a sizable investment in its Stillwater facility, and plans to stay in the community for a long time. She said Quebecor and Westaff have formed a partnership to enables the companies to supply Quebecor’s workforce needs. They outlined the types of jobs available and what pay and benefits can be expected for those jobs. They asked chamber members to remember this opportunity should they come across someone who is looking for employment.
Meetings: The next general membership meeting of the chamber will be at noon, Thursday, May 17, at the Lion’s Den. Hello! Catering is the scheduled caterer, and Suzette Barta will present a program about Leadership Perkins.
